Reverend Margaret Fountain Coleman is a native of South Boston, Virginia. She was educated in the Halifax County Public School system. Reverend Coleman is a 1986 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia earning a BS degree in Administration of Justice-Legal Studies; 2009 graduate of Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, New York earning a MS Elementary Education-Children with Disabilities as well as earning a MS Administration Leadership and Supervision from the College of St. Rose, Albany, New York in 2016.
Rev. Coleman served as a Program Planner/Grant-writer for the Tri-County Community Action Program in South Boston, Virginia. She relocated to Durham, North Carolina where she was employed with the Durham Public Defender’s Office as Senior Investigator. She also held a position with the Food Bank of North Carolina as Faith Based Congregation Coordinator in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Having been led by God, Reverend Coleman began studies at Duke University Divinity School in August 1997 to pursue a Master of Divinity, which she completed in 2001. She earned the degree with course concentration in preaching, ethics, and Black Church studies. She furthered her education endeavors in completing the Master of Theology program at Duke Divinity in May 2002. Her thesis was entitled: “Incest in the African American Church: A Pastoral Response.” Rev. Coleman is co- founder of the New Covenant Prayer Ministry and founder of Rev. Margaret’s Moments, a daily inspirational ministry that brings dialogue, encouragement, and consultation to women via social media. From Rev. Margaret's Moments, she has published a 30-day devotional entitled Mind, Body, and Spirit: A Moment With God.
While living in Tuckahoe, New York, Rev. Coleman served as an elected Trustee for the Village of Tuckahoe. Rev. Coleman is notably the first African American woman to hold that position in the villages’ political history. She was also employed with the Tuckahoe Free Union School District. After several years in Tuckahoe, Rev. Coleman relocated to South Boston, Virginia where she was employed with the Halifax County Public School system. She also served as an elected Councilperson for the Town of South Boston, Virginia. During her time in Virginia, she was active in the local branch of the NACCP where she served as Chaplain.
Rev. Coleman and her family relocated to New York residing in Yonkers. She is presently employed with the Yonkers Public Schools as a Special Education teacher. She is currently serving as a member of the local Yonkers Women’s Advisory Board as well as serving as the Vice-President of the Westchester Women’s Advisory Board. Rev. Coleman was named 2018 Woman of Distinction for Yonkers by the city administration for her service in her church and community.
Currently, Reverend Coleman is an Associate Minister at the Messiah Baptist Church. She serves as the Christian Education Pastor as well as the spiritual advisor of the MBC Women’s Ministry. She received ordination in April 2002 under the East Cedar Grove Association affiliate of the National Baptist Convention. In May 2005, Rev. Coleman co-founded Made in His Image Ministries, Inc, an innovative ministry reaching the lives of women from various racial, economical, and denominational backgrounds.
Reverend Coleman resides in Yonkers, New York. She is married to Reverend Frank E. Coleman, Jr., Pastor of the Messiah Baptist Church, Yonkers, New York. From their union, God has blended their family with four children. She is committed to her call to Christian ministry and the preaching of the Gospel. She is dedicated to the ministry of those who are disenfranchised and marginalized. Her commitment to God and God’s people is led and directed by the Holy Spirit. She is known as a woman of faith and a sojourner for justice.
Ms. Sam is a native New Yorker. She is fluent in Spanish and English. She serves as BYM Executive Assistant. She coordinates ministry events and scheduling. Ms. Sam has been with the ministry team since its inception. She brings an anointed skill set to ministry that enables the ministry to be well organized, efficient, and highly sought after.
